Success!! Leo and the team have completed the ascent of Mount Asgard and are heading back to the nearest town - sore and tired, but otherwise ok.

The team have now set off on their attempt to climb Mount Asgard and this picture was taken through the telescope at base camp of them making their way to the start of the climb.

Famous skis and final preparations

This album is the team making final preparations before they set off on the climb – the sun is shining for the first time in four days!

Leo is pictured with one of the skis made famous in the James Bond film The Spy who Loved Me which featured Mount Asgard.

The team are sorting their rations and spending chilly nights pondering the ascent.

Travelling to Mount Asgard

Leo, Sean and Carlos sky dived in to the national park but the rest of the team have a gruelling 5 day hike to reach Mount Asgard – although it is one of the greatest treks in the world!

To make things worse two of the team had to return to Pang to collect more portaledges as two were damaged in the airdrop.  Mount Asgard finally came in to view after 7 days of tough hiking.

Baffin island training climb

The team make a 5 hour ascent of the classic 'Scott Route' on the NE face of Mt Asgard -great preparation for the start of the Asgard Project.

Arrival on Baffin Island

Airdrop!

The team take a DC3 to airdrop their kit at the base of Mount Asgard, and get their first glimpse of the mountain they’ll be tackling. Leo, Stanley and Carlos get to make the jump of a lifetime by sky diving in to base camp next to Mount Asgard. It doesn’t get any cooler than that.

Yosemite, USA

Leo travelled to Yosemite to meet his climbing partner Sean 'Stanley' Leary and to get some final training climbs done before the start of the Asgard Project. Inclement weather didn't help their attempts but they still got some tough training done and some great shots...

Monte Brento, Italy

Leo, Carlos and team spent three days in the Arco Valley, practising climbing and also perfecting their BASE jumping skills with top wingsuit specialist Robbie Pecnik - some great photos were taken during the trip.

March 2009: Riglos, Spain

This was the first training climb that Leo completed with fellow Berghaus athlete Carlos Suarez. Leo and Carlos climbed the formidable over hanging towers of Riglos in Spain, base jumping from each tower when they reached the top.
